Join AU's 2026-27 Writer in Residence, Drew Hayden Taylor, for a talk called "White water rafting down the river of Indigenous literature."

Drew Hayden Taylor, an award-winning playwright, novelist, filmmaker, and journalist, is Athabasca University’s newest Writer in Residence. Born and raised on Curve Lake First Nation in Ontario, Taylor’s work often explores what he calls the contemporary Native Literary Renascence.

As the Writer in Residence at AU until December 2026, Taylor is available as a resource for students, faculty, and staff to help with their writing process, from draft to publication. As part of his Writer in Residence work, Drew will be holding this public talk with a question-and-answer session.

He has performed stand-up comedy at the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C.; served as Artistic Director of Canada's premiere Indigenous theatre company, Native Earth Performing Arts; he even worked on the popular Canadian television series The Beachcombers and North of 60.
